Luis F. Pineda, M.D., M.S.H.A.
Board certified and trained in several disciplines; Hematology/Oncology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry/Neurology and Pain Management. He has been at the service of the community of Birmingham for the past twenty-five plus years. He was one of the original members in the bone marrow transportation program at UAB. Dr. Pineda provides clinical service in areas of expertise as well as educating through academic, institutional and community projects.
His primary role involved the development of working relationships between federal, private third party payers and practicing healthcare providers. He serves on several advisory committees with facilities, institutions like the American Cancer Society and is the Medicare Hematology CAC member for the State of Alabama.
He is involved in various clinical research studies and serves as both Principal Investigator and Sub- Investigator. He is an Active Member of the American Society of Hematology. In 2003 he completed a Masters in Science and Health Administration.
In 2005, Dr. Pineda founded the non-profit organization Cooking with Cancer, INC and has dedicated time and resources to address patients' nutritional problems by creating recipes specifically designed for patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation with the mission "Helping those afflicted with cancer to enjoy a better quality of life through good food."

Gina Seibert, Practice Administrator
Working with Dr. Pineda since 1988, Gina took over the role as Practice Administrator in 2001 and works hard to stay on top of medical issues on a state and national level. She is the 2008, 2009 and 2010 President of the Alabama state management society, Oncology Providers Network (OPN), the 2010 Vice President of the state of Alabama oncology society, Alabama Cancer Congress (ACC), and a member of the Medical Group Managers Association (MGMA).
She serves on committee with many Medical Roundtable Meetings discussing reimbursement, human resources, medical/legal issues as well as new medical technology and treatments. Involved in the design, organization and implementation of HIPAA Security and Privacy she is also the Security Officer to which concerns and violations are reported.
Gina is also the administrator of the non-profit organization Cooking with Cancer, INC. and is involved in the development of speaking engagements, educational literature, TV programs such as For the Health of It, and nutritional product designs.

Christy ZarZaur, MSN, C.R.N.P.
Joining our practice in 1998 from HealthSouth Medical Center, Christy became one of our chemotherapy certified nurses. After working in Oncology for a couple of years she returned to school while continuing to work full-time to pursue becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Graduating in 2003 she works along side Dr. Pineda participating in patient evaluations, clinical assessments and treatment planning. She assists on new employee training and HIPAA implementation. Christy is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Cindy Hayes CPC, Billing and Insurance Specialist
Joining us in mid 2004, Cindy is in the physician's business office as our billing and insurance specialist. She has fifteen plus years of experience and she is a certified coder working in this field with not only Medical Oncology/Hematology, but other various areas. Her duties vary from system administration, patient accounts and updates on human resources, coding, privacy and security and insurance reimbursement.

Faye Page, Lab Supervisor
In 1983 Faye started working with Dr. Pineda. She continued her years of service through her battle with Leiomyosarcoma until she passed away on March 15, 2007. We are grateful for the love and care she shared with our staff and patients.

Jessica Parker, RN
Jessica came to join our practice in the year 2000. In 2009 she became a chemotherapy certified registered nurse. Her job duties are in patient care, medical work-ups, non-chemo treatments, patient drug assistance and lab supervisor. She does chart reviews and is involved in updates on new medical treatments and procedures. She is trained and updated on security and privacy issues and how they relate to patient care, as well as, disability forms and patient drug assistance.

Kim Reeves, Insurance Specialist
Joining our practice in the physician's business office mid 2007, Kim has worked for seven years in insurance and medical billing. Specializing in technical support and patient insurance benefits she is responsible for working patient's accounts. She is updated with changes in coding, collections, reimbursement and state and federal regulations along with how HIPAA interfaces with patient accounts and security.

Monica Oliver, MSA, OCN
Monica came to work with us when she moved to the Birmingham area in 2004. She has worked not only in other cancer centers, but also in Hospice. Monica is chemotherapy certified and is involved in updates on new medical treatments and procedures. She is trained and updated on security and privacy issues and how they relate to patient care, as well as, disability forms and patient drug assistance.

Renae Martin, Receptionist
Renae is our front desk receptionist. She joined us in mid 2004. Updated daily from the Physician's Business Office she has knowledge of our patient's co-payments and deductibles. She is involved in chart reviews and updating of the patient charts for insurance, privacy, security and consent of treatments. Her warm smile welcomes the patients to our office.

Roshunda Spencer, M.A. Lap Supervisor
Ro worked with our practice 2001-2004. She returned mid 2007 as our medical assistant. Her duties are patient care, medical work-ups, non-chemo treatements, patient drug assistance and laboratory. She is trained on security and privacy issues and how they relate to our patient care.
